Genius Products and Animal Planet released a new DVD on September 29, 2009 titled Lions featuring four full length shows: A Lion Called Christian, The Lion’s Share, White Lions, and Rogue Lions .
I sat down and took in all four episodes of Lions in one evening, back-to-back, and wouldn’t suggest anyone else doing that, LOL! My three year old likes the Animal Planet wild animal DVDs, but they don’t hold his attention for very long. The footage is fantastic and I enjoyed the stories, though A Lion Called Christian was my favorite of the four. Have you seen the reunion (a year after his owners set him free in Africa) on YouTube?
Christian’s entire story is remarkable, but that reunion is just too darling for words. You can check out clips of Animal Planet’s feature of Christian here.
The other three stories feature lions at Kruger National Park targeting humans as a food source & looks at ways to train them to fear humans again (Rogue Lions); starvation, drought, and predators testing the bonds of the Tanzania’s Serengeti lion communities (The Lion’s Share); and delving into the regal realm of the white lion (White Lions).
